Why the Highlands can offer a smarter holiday escape this year.

With the current rising cost of living and ever-increasing flight prices, many families are rethinking how and where they holiday this year. The good news is that you do not need to travel far or spend a fortune to enjoy a memorable break. A stay in the Scottish Highlands, particularly in Aviemore and the Cairngorms, offers a refreshing, cost-effective alternative that delivers on both value and experience.

At Silverglades, we have always believed that a great holiday should not come with a hefty price tag. Now more than ever, choosing a self-catering stay close to home makes perfect sense. Not only do you avoid the stress and expense of airports, baggage fees, and car hire, but you can also take advantage of our late offers—saving up to £400 on the normal price.

Make Your Money Go Further with Self-Catering

One of the simplest ways to keep holiday costs under control is by choosing self-catering accommodation. Having your own kitchen gives you the freedom to cook meals at your convenience, significantly reducing your dining out expenses.

Aviemore is well served with supermarkets such as ALDI, Tesco, and Home Bargains, making it easy to stock up on good-value essentials. Many of our properties also feature enclosed gardens with BBQ areas and outdoor seating, perfect for relaxed evenings enjoying a home-cooked meal while taking in those wonderful mountain views.

The Great Outdoors – Nature’s Free Playground

The Cairngorms National Park is one of the UK’s finest natural playgrounds, and best of all, much of it is completely free to enjoy. From gentle woodland walks to more adventurous hikes and cycle trails, there is something for every age and ability. Bring your own bikes, canoe, or paddleboard for some great free family fun in stunning scenery.

Family favourites include visits to local lochs each offering its own unique charm. Whether it is a peaceful picnic, a paddle at the water’s edge, or simply soaking in the scenery, these moments often become the most treasured holiday memories.

Enjoy More for Less with Local Discounts

A little planning can go a long way when it comes to stretching your holiday budget. Many local attractions and restaurants offer family deals and discounts, and as a Silverglades guest, you can enjoy added savings with our SilverCard—offering up to 10% off selected activities, eateries, and attractions.
