Highland Wildlife Park
Visit the Highland Wildlife Park: This park is located nearby and offers an opportunity to see a variety of animals, including Scottish wildcats, red pandas, polar bears, and more. The park has indoor exhibits where you can stay dry while observing the wildlife and a drive through area where you can sit in the comfort of your own car and enjoy seeing a selection of animals roaming freely.

Strathspey Railway
Visit the Strathspey Railway: Take a nostalgic journey on a steam train that runs through the stunning Cairngorms scenery. Enjoy the views from the comfort of the vintage carriages as you experience the charm of a bygone era.

Speyside Distillery

Loch Inch Water sports

Why not get out on the water on a wet day and have some fun with one of the many activities that are on offer at Loch Inch, choose from Kayaking,Canoeing,River trips,Sups,Windsurfing,Saling,Fishing and the latest fun, the Jungle Float.

Speyside Centre

  • The Speyside Centre is a family-owned garden centre known for its selection of highland heathers. There is a small but well stocked gift shop with a wide array of Scottish gifts -knitwear, glassware, and all types of foodstuffs. There is a large Whisky and Gin section The cafe is excellent with a good range of home-baked produce. 

Café & Tearooms
Relax at a local café or tearoom: Aviemore has several cozy cafés and tearooms where you can unwind with a hot drink, indulge in some delicious treats, and watch the rain from a comfortable spot.

  • Explorer Cafe Aviemore.
    Located  inside Tiso Aviemore this cafe offers vegan toasties, soup, baked potatoes and hot drinks and cakes. Great if you are up with your dog as it is pet friendly too!
  • The Barn, Rothiemurchus
    Located on the Rothiemurchus Estate. Great for takeaway serving breakfasts, daily specials, soups, sandwiches, cakes, coffee and more. You can also pop into the Rothiemurchus Farm shop next door to stock up on delicious local produce.
  • Ryvoan Café
    This is a hidden gem tucked off the main street in Aviemore with beautiful artwork displayed on the walls and a light and modern feel to the décor. A great place for a coffee and cake or light lunch. Located in Aviemore at Unit 3D, Myrtlefield Business Park, Myrtlefield, Aviemore PH22 1SD.
  • Nethy House Cafe, Nethy Bridge
    Located by the bridge in the village, this cafe has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It serves delicious soups and sandwiches, sausage rolls and pasties, daily specials and a  selection of home-baking which you can eat in or takeaway.
  • The Gashouse, Boat of Garten
    This wee café could easily be missed, as it is tucked Next door to bike shop Ride Scotland and on the railway platform by The Boat Country Inn & Restaurant, is a very special wee cafe that you simply must visit. It serves excellent coffee, an array of delicious cakes and traybakes, with excellent customer service and attention to dietary requirements. Another fantastic pitstop if you are walking or cycling the Speyside Way. Open Tues-Sat, 10am-4pm.

Enjoy indoor sports and activities:
Aviemore has a range of indoor facilities where you can engage in activities such as swimming and the Fun House for the kids to play indoors at Coylembridge, or enjoy  some Ice skating or Curling at the Aviemore Ice Rink. These venues offer a fun way to spend your time while escaping the rain.
