You may think there is not much to do during the Autumn and only plan a visit to Aviemore during the summer months. If you did,you could be missing out on some amazing days out at one of the most beautiful times of the year, with less people around and lower prices for your accommodation this all makes the Autumn a great time to stay. We have put together a list of some of our guests favourite days out to give you some ideas, including some free activities days during the Autumn.

  • Landmark Forest Adventure Park The famous SPOOKFEST is back between the 8th and 30th of October. This was one of my kids favourite days out in the holidays in the October holidays. Enter Wonder wood… if you dare… and encounter the Grim reaper and Dracula’s bride.   • Strathspey Steam Railway

  • Aviemore Half Marathon 8th / 9th October 2022
    Join us for the 2022 return of the Aviemore Half Marathon and 10k for all, two jaw-droppingly scenic courses set amongst the atmospheric backdrop of the Cairngorms. Both races start and finish at Badaguish, taking you on spectacular new routes using off-road trails through the beautiful forest, loch, and mountain scenery of the Glenmore Forest Park.   • Cairngorm Mountain
    Tubing Slid.

    Fun for both children and adults, the 56 metre, high-speed Tubing Slide will feature two parabolic turns
  • Guided Walks
  • There is no better way to discover the natural beauty of the Cairngorm Mountains than by embarking on a guided walk. There is a range of guided experiences at Cairngorm Mountain which are ideal for first time visitors and experienced hillwalkers alike. 
  • Speyside Wildlife
    Evening Wildlife Watching Hide
    Our hide is located in the Cairngorms within the Caledonian Pine Forest near Aviemore. Badger are regular visitors all year round and Pine Marten can also be seen. A variety of other Scottish wildlife may visit our hide whilst it is still light, including Tawny Owls, Red Squirrels, and Roe Deer. Click for Speyside Wildlife


  • Aviemore  Spy Mission Treasure Trail ( under £10)

There is lots to discover and learn on the Aviemore self-guided spy themed Treasure Trail as you embark on this family mission.   • Highland Folk Museum (Free entry)

This is a fun day out and it is free! The Highland Folk Museum has transformed 300 years of history by recreating a thriving 1700's township, of heather thatched turf houses with open peat fires, furnished with box bed and traditional lamps. A working croft still stands with horses, cattle, ducks, tractors, hand pumps and farm machinery and the teacher rules in the old, tin Highland school!
