Funicular Railway

The new Cairngorm Funicular Railway is the first high speed funicular in the UK. It offers visitors the opportunity to experience this spectacular mountain in safety and comfort. At full speed it takes less than five minutes to travel from the Base Station to the Ptarmigan (3600ft).

The funicular offers visitors reliable and comfortable access even in high winds and adverse weather conditions, transforming the Cairngorm Mountains into a year round attraction. Thus enabling visitors of all ages and abilities to participate in a unique mountain experience.

Explore the Highlands

Aviemore is also an ideal base from which to explore Monarch Country, the Badenoch and Strathspey area, with its magnificent scenery. Or visit Loch Ness, famous for its legendary monster Nessie, which is less than an hour's drive away.
